Summertime, and the living is busy throughout Valley

By VICKIE ELLIS, TVARA Valleywide President

We move into another beautiful Tennessee Valley summer, I want to take a moment to reflect on the season of transition and gratitude ahead of us.

Summer always brings warmer weather and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. I encourage everyone to take appropriate precautions — stay hydrated, be mindful of heat advisories, and check on neighbors and loved ones as temperatures rise.

I also want to express my heartfelt thanks for the volunteer spirit and philanthropy happening across many of our chapters. The hours you dedicate, the causes you support, and the communities you strengthen embody the very best of who we are. Your service is noticed, and it truly makes a difference.

As you look ahead on your calendars, please take note of the annual TVA Retiree Appreciation Luncheon on Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. We hope to see many of you there, as we gather to reconnect and celebrate our shared history. Registration will be from June 1 through Aug. 21. See the back page of this newsletter for online registration information. No walk-ins will be allowed this year, and we are not taking phone reservations.

Finally, a quick reminder about our newsletter distribution. If we have your email address, you will receive this newsletter electronically. If you prefer a printed copy, please contact Richard Wilson at rtwilson@tva.gov to request one.

Upon the retirement of TVA Chief Executive Officer/President Don Moul, TVA has hired Mike Skaggs as his interim replacement. Mike has extensive TVA experience and appreciates the TVA mission. Many of our members worked with Mike during their time at TVA, and we are thrilled that he is returning to lead TVA at this critical time.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support. I look forward to what the coming months will bring for our TVARA family.
