Erik Bodiscomassink, Norris Dam Plant Manager was the host on August 21, 2019 of a second tour of Norris Dam for the TVA Retirees Association (TVARA). The group of 40 retirees and guests enjoyed touring the powerhouse, viewed the restored Bob Birdwell mural and were provided interesting facts and information about plant operation.
Erik commented, “It is a pleasure and a privilege to provide tours to the TVA retirees. They have put so much of their time and effort, while working for TVA, into making the Valley a better place to live. During their careers, many did not have the chance to see some of the amazing projects that TVA had built. Providing these tours is our way of saying Thank You.”
The first tour for 40 retirees and guests was May 21, 2019. Many of the group also enjoyed a leisurely walk on the 2.3 mile Song Bird Trail just below the dam. According to Vickie Ellis, TVARA Knoxville Chapter President, “As soon as we announced the tour of Norris Dam, we received overwhelming responses requesting to attend. So much that we scheduled the August 21st tour.”
“TVA locations and programs are a favorite activity location for our retirees” said DeWitt Burleson, Valley-wide President of the TVARA. “Our retirees are proud to have worked at TVA and there is always a sense of pride to re-visit these areas. There are plans for future tours of other TVA locations.”
